Detroit-Metro Oboe Camp 2013 is a summer oboe intensive that will focus on aspects of oboe that are not covered during private lessons, including college auditions, scholarship auditions, oboe repair, orchestral excerpts, phrasing classes and more. Students are invited to participate in a Chamber Music Reading Party on Thursday, June, 27, 2013 from 12pm-2pm! We will being reading trios for two oboes and English horn, as well as duets. You may bring your own music, or use mine. It's a great way to get to know new music with little pressure! Oboists from outside of the studio may participate as well. Be sure to sign up before so that groups can be organized.
Congratulations to high school student Samantha C. (Grosse Pointe South) for making the Symphony Orchestra in Detroit Metropolitan Youth Orchestra!!! Samantha will join the orchestra in the Fall of 2013. This will be Samantha's first time playing in a citywide youth orchestra and I'm very excited for her! Great job!!!
Be sure to come hear Royal Oak Musicale Scholarship winner, Brian Anstett (Shrine HS), perform the Saint-Saens Oboe Sonate AND Cimarosa Oboe Concerto and the Royale Oak Musicale Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 22 at 7:30pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Royal Oak, MI. I'm ecstatic to hear Brian's first concerto debut! He truly sounds FANTASTIC!
Be sure to check out the Detroit-Metro Summer Oboe Camp 2013!! This will be a one week oboe intensive camp for students of all ages in the Detroit-Metro area. The camp will be Monday - Friday from 10am-3pm each day, and oboists will play prepared repertoire, as well as attend seminars on reed making, knife sharpening, college auditions, and more. Congratulations to graduating student Brian A. (Shrine HS) for receiving an additional college scholarship from Detroit Metropolitan Youth Symphony for outstanding Woodwind Player of the Year! This makes TWO college scholarships that Brian has won in Detroit Metro, in addition to the FULL scholarships that he's received from universities to begin undergrad in the Fall!! Great job!
