Congratulations to high school student Haley J. (Ferndale HS) for earning a first division at Michigan state solo & ensemble! She opted to perform a different solo than the Haydn Oboe Concerto that she won a first division on at the regional competition, and instead performed the Cimarosa Oboe Concerto. I'm proud of her drive!

Congratulations to high school student Arielle W. (Andover HS) for being nominated to audition for soloist at the Youth Arts Festival. The Youth Arts Festival is for students who received the HIGHEST scores at Michigan State Solo & Ensemble. Only 100 students out of 5,000 students across the entire state were nominated, based on their scores at state solo & ensemble, to audition for this Festival. If she wins, Arielle will perform her concerto from memory in front of the orchestra for the state convention in Kalamazoo, MI! Good luck and congratulations for being nominated!!
Congratulations to high school student Lauren G. (Walled Lake Northern HS) for receiving a first division on both her solo & ensemble at Michigan state solo & ensemble competition! She performed the Saint-Saens Oboe Sonate. Congrats!!

Huge congratulations to student Brian A. (Shrine HS) for being accepted as an undergraduate oboe performance major to Baldwin-Wallace University in Cleveland, OH. Brian also received a substantial scholarship, and if he accepts, he will study with Assistant Principal oboist of the Cleveland Orchestra, Jeff Rathbun. Along with Baldwin-Wallace, Brian was accepted into Oakland University, Wayne State University, and Eastern Michigan University as an undergraduate oboe major. Couldn't be happier for him!!
